Safety Applications Every Student Should Download!

Personal safety tends to take a back seat when you suddenly enter college. Several assignments, several PowerPoint presentations take the overload.

Downloading a few mobile safety applications to your 
iPhone, Android device or Blackberry phone gives you a sense of safety which is advised.

The anti-violence apps we've listed can be used during emergencies or in uncomfortable situations. With the apps, students can connect instantly with friends, family.

1) 
Circle of 6:


 A Must-Have application for a woman who uses an iPhone. Circle of 6 – The Circle of 6 is designed to help students to come out of potentially dangerous situations. Using this application, users connect the phone numbers of up to six close friends. These could be classmates, roommates, neighbors. In uncomfortable situations users can safely and silently send a message through this app which will help them rescue.

2) Nirbhaya
An app for women is an app titled “Nirbhaya” as a tribute to the brave victim who met her death at the hands of sexual predators on the night of December 16, 2012.
The app can be used in emergency situations by pressing a single distress signal through call or message to a specified contact or a group. A striking feature of this app is the fact that it is configured to send a distress message on just shaking the phone.
The app has also been developed to send alerts about the location of the user with updates after every 300 meters.

3) I AM SAFE


Third on the list is I AM SAFE application from Google that has been developed with the primary aim of offering women safety and security.
I AM SAFE app configure GPS and constantly send data relating to the current location along with the SMS.
However, users can add just one emergency number to which the SMS will be sent.

4) Alert.us
With this application, parents can now always be informed about their kid’s whereabouts. It also allows the users to send emergency alerts using the alert button to a set of trusted people.

5) Scream alarm
As the name of the safety application suggests, the app is a free safety alarm which, on being pushed or activated, screams with the voice of a woman making it a perfect app for distress situations.

6)  Fight back
The Fight back application sends a SOS message via text message, email or even Facebook, for that matter to a pre-entered list of recipients with the simple click of a button.
The message also includes the current location of the sender. One very unique feature of Fight back is the Facebook status update. Apart from providing SMS
and Email options to alert the other person, this app automatically updates your status

7) Sentinel
An award winning women’s safety app, Sentinel has a distinct advantage over other safety applications.
Sentinel will send out a distress call to your emergency list if there’s a forced switch off of the phone and it can also detect if your phone has been snatched from you subjecting the device to several shakes

8) Bsafe
The Bsafe safety app for women promises that “you will never walk alone”. There is even a fake call option in case that perfect date turns out creepy and the situation tense.
The app claims it has live GPS-tracking, which means a friend can follow you if you’re walking alone and ensure your safety

9)  Life 360


One of the most downloaded women safety applications is the Life 360 app.
It is battery friendly can track your current position using GPS and connect you constantly with family members.
The best part of this application (as voted by users), is that the app triggers an alert when a circle member has reached his or his destination.

As a part of an ongoing initiative for relevant industry exposure, INLEAD facilitated an Industry Visit to Fortune Select Excalibur, Gurgaon

Fortune Select Excalibur, Gurgaon is a 4- star classified business property. It’s into its 4th year operation. It opened in October 2010 with 135 rooms, 11 floors, 2 specialty restaurants, 1 coffee shop which is open 24 hrs. In Room Dining, 1 club lounge, a lounge bar, pastry shop and 4 banqueting venues. The hotel also has a business center with two board rooms.



Aiming to be the best business hotel around, Fortune Select Excalibur, Gurgaon is located on Sohna Road, slated to be the next corporate and residential hub of Gurgaon. Fortune Select Excalibur, Gurgaon is a managed property by Fortune park Hotels Ltd. The owning board is Nimitya. Fortune is part of ITC, which is headquartered in Kolkata headed by Mr. Y.C. Deweshwar.


The session began with an orientation to the property by Mr. Gaurav Kapur, he heads the hotels Food and Beverage followed by a property brief by Mr. Amit Chadda, Front office Manager.

The rooms are categorized as Standard room, Fortune Club room and Suites. The rooms are priced from 5500/- + taxes to 10,000/- + taxes. There’s an additional of luxury and service tax.
Zodiac is a 24 hr. coffee shop with 82 cover multi cuisine restaurant with live stations, a’la carte, buffet and theme based Sunday brunch. Nostradamus is a 30 cover bar. Earthen Oven is a 72 cover North Indian restaurant with private dining area and bar and wine cellar. The oriental pavilion is a 62 cover Pan Asian restaurant set at multi-level. They also have a Club Lounge that is complimentary for the Fortune Club Room guest which can accommodate 20 guests.

A brief was also shared with the students on the operations of the hotels, concepts today and how they are keeping a tight noose on the Sales and Marketing. In addition to this the students were also given an opportunity to raise questions if any.

Students of Healthcare Administration Visit Columbia Asia, Gurgaon on 26th August’14

On 26th Aug 2014, INLEAD organized an industry visit for Healthcare Administration  students to Gurgaon branch of Columbia Asia Hospital which is situated in Palam Vihar.

One of the HR team members took the students and introduced them to various departments in the hospital. The hospital offers services like gynecology, ophthalmology, internal medicine, general surgery, ear, nose and throat department, urology, orthopedics, plastic surgery and a few more.

Another HR team member took the students through a short presentation in the end explaining various branches of the hospital present all over the globe, the infrastructure, the staff and services that the hospital provides which was quite beneficial in knowing the hospital inside out.

INBM Students Visit DLF Emporio, India's Finest Luxury Destination on 25th August'14

On the 25th of August, 14 students pursuing International Business Management from INLEAD got  an opportunity to visit DLF Emporio shopping mall situated in Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. It is one of the first truly zoned luxury malls to open in India.


The owner of the mall is Mr. Rajiv Singh & the Managing Director is Mr. Khattar. Leasing decisions are being taken care of by Ms. Deepti Dhingra & Sr. Vice President is Mr. Dinar Madugar. For Restaurant related leasing formalities DLF Restaurants Ltd is responsible & for rest its DLF Utilities Ltd.

It has four floors having more than 110 brands. The four categories on the basis of which these brand stores are divided are:

4.     Lifestyle

The second & third floors have luxury Indian brands whereas rest floors have International brands. INLEADers get an ‘Overview of Hospital and its Services’ at Artemis Hospital, Gurgaon

On 13th August ’14 students of July & April 2014 batch, pursuing Healthcare Administration from INLEAD  visited Artemis Hospital in Gurgaon which is a 300 bed super specialty hospital. The main agenda of the workshop was to get an overview of the hospital and its various departments.

Event Management Students Visit an Entertainment Destination in Gurgaon, the ‘Kingdom of Dreams’

As a part of its continuous Corporate Training Initiative, INLEAD facilitated an Industry Visit to Kingdom Of Dreams, Gurgaon. Kingdom of Dreams at present it one of its kind entertainment and leisure destination located in the heart of Gurgaon. 

Introduction: Students of the July’14 batch,  pursuing ‘EventManagement & Public Relationsfrom INLEAD made to visit Kingdom of Dreams to get a hands on experience on the working of one of the biggest entertainment extravaganza in the country.

The students of INLEAD got an exposure of a stunning, electrifying on-stage spectacle. The students also had an opportunity to procure the knowledge of creativity and cutting edge technology to create an Entertainment Extravaganza. They were briefed about the sprawling setup at Kingdom of Dreams which included both Nautanki Mahal and Culture Gully. An elaborate culture, arts, craft and food boulevard, from visiting the backwaters of Kerala, the taste buds in the style in Lucknow, the beaches in Goa, an insight of the royal splendor of a Rajasthani Palace, the Mumbai local, the live kitchens….. A brief visit to IIFA buzz cafĂ©, a glamorous themed Bollywood VIP lounge, was also one of the key learning’s for students as it allowed them to have knowledge of extravagant set up for various entertainment events. The students had a chance to learn the art of event conceptualization & execution.
