Hospital Management: Industry Expert Session (Dr. Angel)


INLEAD conducted an Industry Expert Session on 26th September 2012 for its HCA students of July’12 batch. The session was conducted by Dr. Angel Rajan Singh who is a Senior Resident Administrator at AIIMS and was here to present the Indian Perspective on Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) which is a prerequisite in order to start the digitization of information in the Hospitals all across PAN India. Dr. Angel has completed his MBBS from the Govt. Medical College, Patiala and has done his Masters in Hospital Administration from AIIMS, New Delhi.

Dr. Angel’s presentation presented an overview of the healthcare industry, where we stand in the current scenario and what are the Emerging Trends in this industry as medical tourism and pharmaceutical industry played a major role in its exorbitant growth rate. The session helped students to understand the necessity of Hospital Information Systems because of the increase in the information load and as per the Consumer Protection Act it is mandatory for the Hospitals to store patient records for at least 10 years. Dr. Angel’s presentation gave a detailed analysis on the technical part of HMIS explaining the terms like PACS, DICOM and HL7 thoroughly to the students. He also discussed on the six major steps that are required to deploy HMIS in any organization and the standards required for the same. Overall it was a very informative session and helped students to understand the technical aspects of Healthcare Administration.

Management Student: INLEAD's GOT TALENT 2012


INLEAD's GOT TALENT show was organized by INLEADers of Jan and July 2012 batches. The show portrays a huge amount of talent ranging from fashion, dance, music, comedy and theatre. It was a unique experience in itself to see INLEADers showcasing their talents on the IGT platform with confidence and style. On the whole it was a celebration of diverse talent that INLEADers has to offer to the audiences and the alumni. The show was anchored by Mr. Varrun Tyagi and Ms. Charu Jishnu and was executed to perfection with their witty one liner and humorous acts in between the show. IGT began with the traditional Kathak Thumri performance by Ms. Rashika Yadav. The show included clips from behind the stage (done by Akshay Bhatia and Mahrook Salman) depicting the entire journey of preparation of IGT’12. The show continued with Fashion Show showcasing the Desi Tadka style & Panache, Dance Numbers which are gracefully performed on different themes, standup comedy by Vibhor Bhardwaj and a surprise comic act by Tushar Saini and Nipun Gupta that has left everyone rolling on the floor with laughter. It ended with the awards ceremony as Dr. Sangeeta Parijaat, President INLEAD and Mr. RC Gupta, Executive Director at INLEAD acknowledges the winners of INLEAD’s GOT TALENT and participants as well.

Management Student: Kaleidoscope: Art Showcase (INLEAD's GOT TALENT)


First Day of  INLEAD’s GOT TALENT 2012 ended with Kaleidoscope (Art Showcase). The Art showcasing consist of Sketching, Painting and Best out Of Waste. The challenge was to create something spectacular with limited resources and in a short span of time. Sketching and Painting had individual participants while Best out of waste have 3 teams of two members each. The participants were being tested on their creative skills, uniqueness in their art, time management and the Overall theme. Judges for the following event were Mr. Rahul Dhingra, Mr. Deepak Sharma, Ms. Khushboo Singh, Ms. Bindu Menon and Mr. Navdeep Dalia.



Result for the event was declared on 24th September at the INLEAD’s GOT TALENT awards ceremony.

Management Student: Master Chef INLEAD 2012 (INLEAD's GOT TALENT)


The day of festivities had begun with Master Chef INLEAD Cookery Competition. Six Teams (2 member each) had participated in the competition and each has to prepare 3 dishes (A Snack, A Mocktail & A desert). The contestants were judged on various parameters like Taste, Presentation Skills, Time Management, Quantity (Potion Served) and overall Hygiene on their counter. All of the dishes looked tempting and were creating their magic by making everyone palates salivating for more than usual. The connoisseurs were Ms. Khushboo Singh, Mr. Deepak Sharma, Mr. Rahul Dhingra, Ms. Bindu Menon and Ms. Priya Mehta.

Management Student: INLYMPICS 2012 - A Day Packed Full Of Fun And Excitement

INLEAD’s Students Affairs Team had planned INLYMPICS 2012 for INLEADers of Jan and July 2012 Batches on 7th September 2012. The event was a great success and was well received, as students expressed their enthusiasm and participated in huge numbers. The event was yet another opportunity for the students of different batches to mingle with each other and enjoy a day packed full of fun. The day culminated with students participating in games like Chess Championship, Carrom Championship, Play Station 2 and Dart Championship. The event ended with Prize Distribution Ceremony as Mr. R.C. Gupta, Executive Director at INLEAD distributed the prizes and certificates to the winners of different games.

Hospital managemnet: Industry Visit - Max Super-Specialty Hospital, Saket


INLEAD conducted an Industry Visit to Max Super-Specialty Hospital in Saket on 3rd September 2012 for its Healthcare Administration students of July’12 batch. The visit started with a warm welcome by the HR representative followed by a facility tour of the East- Wing of the Hospital. The areas that were covered during the facility tour were Blood Bank, In Patient Department, O.T. Complex, Progressive Care and Out Patient Department. Students were briefed about the sub-components of the respective areas by the area in-charge and explained the process flow of the department. 

The students were taken to the various areas, briefed about the sub-components of the respective areas by the area in-charge and explained the process flow of the department. After the round Mr Mehernosh Dittia, VP Talent Development interacted with the students and elaborated the peculiarities of the healthcare consumers and the competencies one need to develop as a healthcare administrator. The session ended with an exquisite lunch arranged by the organization. The visit helped the students to get acquainted with a leading corporate healthcare facility and the functioning and interdependence of the various clinical services.

The later part of the day was utilized as fruitfully as the former by visiting the premier medical Institute of the country. The students were invited as observers for a Healthcare IT meeting in Jai Prakash Narayan Apex Trauma Centre (JPNATC), All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi by Dr. S B Gogia, Consultant Plastic Surgeon, Chairperson Scientific Committee 8th NCMI. The agenda of the meeting was discussing the pros and cons of the VISTA application in use there. 


The first presentation was by Dr.Hardeep Singh, Chief Health policy and Quality Program, Houston VA Health Services Research and Development Center of Excellence. The Topic of presentation was Complex Intersection of EHR & Patient Safety. He highlighted the IT errors, the errors of abnormal test results and concerns of patient safety. The second presentation was given by Dr.Deepak Agrawal, Head IT and Associate Prof, Neurosurgery. The topic of the presentation was Electronic Hospital Reporting (EHR). The emphasis was on the use of VISTA in the JPN Apex Trauma Centre, the issues and challenges faced at the user end. The session concluded with a lavish High tea for the participants arranged by the organizers.

Management Student: Lead Activity - Quiz Wiz Winners


All the aspiring professionals were waiting for 31st August 2012, as the day was decided to give the title of the Ultimate Wizard to 1 team among 8 that had participated in the “Quiz Wiz” Contest organized by the INLEAD’s Student Affairs Team. The atmosphere of the room was full of anticipation as the excitement level grew with the level of questions getting tougher and tougher with each round. All the eight teams tackled the hard-hitting questions well which were being thrown to them by Ms. Khushboo Singh. It should be added that the audience also played a major contributing factor in making the entire activity a huge success as the questions that were not being answered were turned to them and the answers were flowing from across all the corners. The event came to a successful end as students received their prizes and certificates from Mr. RC Gupta, Executive Director at INLEAD

Management Student: GET Ready for Quiz Wiz INLEADers


The campus is buzzing with excitement - the encyclopedias are drawn, the newspapers lay crumbled after multiple readings and trivia and riddles have replaced jokes in the Inbox. INLEAD Quiz Wiz is here and has created an atmosphere of anticipation. With the Screening and preliminary rounds already done with – it’s time for the GRAND FINALE – scheduled this Friday (31st August, 2012).
The first round witnessed an enthusiastic participation of over 70 aspiring wizards and now it’s down to the final 16. Divided into 8 teams, the finals will witness them trying to outsmart each other and be the official Wizard of INLEAD.
How will it unfold??
The action starts at 12:00 Noon in Corvus and R&R room. The teams shall endure 5 rounds of Questions, with categories being: General Knowledge, Current Affairs, Sports, Entertainment and English Proficiency. The top 2 teams will move onto the final round that will test them on industry knowledge and will decide the Winner.

Facility Management: An Overview to Facilities Management (Mr. Aneesh Kadyan)


INLEAD conducted an Industry Expert Session on 29th August 2012 for its CAFM and HOM students of Jan and July 2012 batches. The session was conducted by Mr. Aneesh Kadyan, Director Operations – CBRE. He has over half a decade of experience in Facilities Industry and has over a decade of experience in the submarine arm of Indian Navy. Mr. Kadyan began the session by sharing the growth story of India’s Facility Industry as the Infrastructure sector is booming with modernization of offices happening across PAN India. The session helped students to know more facts about the industry and the huge amounts of investments that are coming in the next five years as it will be a contributing growth factor for the industry and the individuals as well.

Mr. Kadyan presentation effectively explained the FM services that the professionals have to manage, sectors that are using these services and career opportunities available for young professionals. In a nutshell Mr. Kadyan explained the entire lifecycle of a FM professional and if one is passionate about their work then infinite growth opportunities are available. The session ended with a round of question and Answers as fresher’s are excited to know more about the industry and the experienced professionals were brushing up their skill set as they shall be going for the interviews in the next one and a half month.

Hospital Management: Industry Expert Session (Dr. Gaurav Aggarwal)


INLEAD conducted an Industry Expert Session on 17th August 2012 for its Healthcare Administration students of July’12 batch. Topic of the session was “Distinctionbetween a Hospital and an Industrial Organization. The session was conducted by Dr. Gaurav Aggarwal, Director – Pushpanjali Crosslay Hospitals. Dr. Aggarwal has completed his MBBS from JSS Medical College, Mysore and has finished his MD in Internal Medicine from Sri Ramchandra Medical College, Chennai. Dr. Aggarwal is at present the director of Pushpanjali Crosslay Hospital and prior to that he had worked with Clinical Diagnostic Centre and Pushpanjali Medical Centre (Heart and Trauma Hospital) as Medical Director.

Dr. Aggarwal explained the entire journey from “Admission to Discharge” in a current hospital setting in a very comprehensive manner. He touched upon all the major areas of a hospital like Clinical Services, Administration, Maintenance & Engineering, Dietary and Biomedical Waste Management. He elaborated on the interdependence of each department and the multiple line of authority in a healthcare organization. He specified that the majority of the work is of an emergency and non deferrable nature and the volume of work is variable and diverse. Dr Aggarwal’s presentation was coupled with day to day practical examples which helped students understand the issues and challenges faced by a hospital administrator.

Hospital management program: Industry Orientation and Corporate Expectation – Mr. Gaurav Khurana


INLEAD conducted an Industry Expert Session for its HCA students of July’12 batch on 1st August 2012. The session was conducted by Mr. Gaurav Khurana, Regional Head – Operations, Fortis Hospital. Mr. Khurana has over a decade of experience in Hospital and Healthcare Administration. He has started his career as a marketing executive and later on built his career in the administration department by working in some of the renowned hospitals across Pan India. He has worked with organizations like Rajiv Gandhi memorial Hospital, Apollo Hospitals, Max Healthcare, Care Hospitals and Aditya Birla Memorial Hospital.    
The session was extremely useful for the students of July’12 batch as it was their first ever interaction with an industry expert. The session helped students to understand more about the Healthcare Industry and the expectations that the corporate has from these budding Healthcare professionals. Mr. Gaurav shared facts and figures with the students about the Industrial growth and its future prospects as well. He also talked on Medical Tourism as it has been a major factor for the growth of this Industry. According to Mr. Khurana the biggest driver for growth in healthcare tourism is the differentiation in medical expenses, when compared to the western countries.

In terms of corporate expectations, Mr. Khurana briefly explained the students that what a recruiter looks into an individual. According to him professionals should focus on the grooming standards (apart from the knowledge) that an industry follows as it plays an important factor. Also one should have clarity in their thought process about their Strong Points, because a recruiter looks into an individual’s uniqueness while determining the finest candidate among the thousands that may have come up for the interviews. The session was quite interactive as it helped students to understand the insights of the healthcare industry and the various job profiles that they can look up to in their career phase as a Healthcare Administrator.

Management Student: Lead Activity - Meet the Culture


INLEAD conducted a LEAD Activity – “Meet the Culture on July 27th 2012 for the students of June and July 2012 batches. India has a rich cultural heritage and it’s very unique and versatile. The diversity in the cultural heritage can be seen throughout the country. Each and every state has different customs, traditions, beliefs and style of ceremonies as well. As INLEAD also has presence of students from different parts of the country so keeping this in mind the student affairs committee had thoroughly planned this activity for them. 

Students of both the batches have put in their best efforts to exhibit various cultures through skits and dance performances. All the acts were detail oriented, be it the costumes involved, lightning effects, and most importantly showcasing the cuisines of different cultures. The cuisines were tried by the judges and it left their palates salivating for more. All in all it was an afternoon which was full of fun & excitement and students of different programs were able to get to know more of each other.

All the acts were well performed and it did put all the judges in the spot of bother as they were not able to decide the winners because of the extraordinary performances by the students. But in the end there had to be one winner selected among the best performances and it was the Punjabi Team because of the vibrancy in the costumes, F&B Presentation and the exceptional role plays of all the characters. While the team performances received a thundering applause, special mentions were made for two individuals Mr. Tushar Saini depicting the character of Beeji (Punjabi team) and Nipun Gupta portraying as the Asur (Bengali Team). Both of them received the Individuals best performance award.

Management Student: Industry Expert Session - Industry Orientation and Corporate Expectation (Mr. Vaibhav Gaur)


INLEAD conducted an Industry Expert Session for its International Hotel Management and Corporate Administration & FacilityManagement students of Jan and July 2012 batches. Topic Of the session was Industry Orientation and Corporate Expectations. The session was conducted by Mr. Vaibhav Gaur, Sales Director – Radisson Suites. Mr. Gaur has done his graduation in Hotel Management from Welcomegroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration, Manipal. He has started his career as Front Office Executive at Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces. Eventually he shifted from the Front Office Department to the Sales Department of the Hotel and has worked in renowned organizations like Radisson MBD Hotel, Crown Plaza, Galaxy Hotels and Spa. Presently he is the youngest person to reach at Director Sale’s level.

Mr. Gaur has over half a decade of experience in this industry and shared his real time experiences with the students. He started the session with describing different departments of a hotel and how all of them are interdependent on each other in order to provide a hassle free service to the Guest. Mr. Gaur also talked on the grooming standards which are an important aspect to work in the industry and also the right kind of attitude required in the organization, which will eventually help them to grow in this lucrative sector.
The session was quite interactive as students being new to the field were very curious to know more about the industry, what would be the growth path and the corporate expectations as well. The Q&A session helped students to understand the hierarchy that is followed in the Hotels, to have a positive frame of mind while working and most importantly improving your skill set at regular intervals to have an effective growth. On being asked that how various hotel chains are surviving in such a competitive market, to which he said that “Service is the Key”. One has to focus on the high quality service being provided to the customer and because that will in the end help you to uphold the guest for a longer period of time. All in all the session was quite well-informed and it helped the students to understand the insights of the hotel industry and overall what are expectations of the corporate from the budding hoteliers.

Event Management: Industry Visit - Galaxy Hotel, Gurgaon


INLEAD conducted an industry visit for its Event Management and Public Relations students of June 2012 batch on 20th July 2012. Students were accompanied by Mr. Sandeep Bhandari, EMPR Faculty at INLEAD. The purpose of the visit was to familiarize them with the subject, Venue Operations. With the rapidly growing demand in MICE industry students should be aware of the latest facilities in a Hotel as a venue. Before doing any event it is very important for an Event Team to do a complete inspection of the venue, get acquainted with the services available at the venue and most importantly to do an appropriate venue mapping on paper in order to give a hassle free experience to the guest on the day of the event.

A Hotel provides various Venue Options like Banquet Halls, Conference Rooms, Board rooms etc. The students were taken on a tour of the Galaxy Hotel and were provided with information like the Layout Plan, Room Division Management, and Restaurant Operations. Students had a great exposure and learning during this visit.

Event Management: Industry Expert Session - Event Marketing Operations (Ramita Chaudhuri)


INLEAD conducted an Industry Expert Session on 13th July 2012 for its Event Management students of June’12 batch. The session was conducted by Ms. Ramita Chaudhuri – Business Consultant. Topic of the session was Insights – Event Marketing Operations. Ms. Ramita is a Marketing Professional & has over 12 years of experience as Business Head for renowned brands. She has worked in various industries like FMCG, Media, Telecom and Advertising. Ms. Chaudhuri has made substantial contributions in activation of some of the popular brands like Carlsberg India, Big FM and Hutch. She was instrumental in ensuring that flagship brands such as Carlsberg and Tuborg gained visibility and acceptance amongst consumers across India through effective pan‐India brand activations and trade programs. Never shy of challenges, she is always looking for fresh venture and applying innovative approach to building brand.

The purpose of the session was to give students an introduction about the diverse Marketing Concepts like ATL/BTL activities, Trade marketing, Direct Marketing etc. Ms. Ramita also shared her practical experiences on various brand activation concepts. She stressed on the fact that comprehensive understanding of the Brand and the core Target Group should be the prime concern of the budding Event Marketers.

As India is majorly an emotion driven country so it is important that an event experience should be innovative so that it can engage more number of people and can strike on to their emotional chords. To come up with such a unique thought process it is essential that one should participate in brain storming sessions at regular intervals. The success of a BTL activity can only be measured through ROI (Return on Investment), hence it is essential for a marketer to invoke large number of people by using experiential marketing. According to Ms. Chaudhuri with such massive competition in a largely cluttered market, the person who possesses such skill set can only sustain for a longer period of time.

Healthcare Administration: Industry Expert Session - Disaster Management (Dr. Gaurav Aggarwal)


INLEAD conducted an Industry Expert Session on 11th July 2012 for its Healthcare Administration students of April’12 batch. Topic of the session was Disaster Management. The session was conducted by Dr. Gaurav Aggarwal, Director – Pushpanjali Crosslay Hospitals. Dr. Aggarwal has completed his MBBS from JSS Medical College, Mysore and has finished his MD in Internal Medicine from Sri Ramchandra Medical College, Chennai.  From 16th July all the HCA students of April’12 batch will start their Quarter 2 internships in various hospitals, so the major purpose of the session was to familiarize them with the effective working atmosphere of hospitals and also to give them an introduction about Disaster Management which is an essential aspect of an administrator’s job profile. Dr. Gaurav had made the session pretty much interactive and shared his practical experience with the students. Dr. Aggarwal also shared the growth story of the booming healthcare sector and according to him the major contributing factor for this is the increase in the competition in the current market scenario. The session also helped students to get exposed to the practicalities of the healthcare industry, what sort of challenges they may face in the real world (while working) and how to overcome them by applying the skills that they had learned in their theoretical sessions. 
During the session Dr. Gaurav also briefed the students on Disaster Management concepts. It helped students to understand about the triage cycle, type of disasters, creating the specific zones to reduce the overall response time and how communication (through different ways) plays a very important role in any emergency. Dr. Aggarwal also shared a format of Hospital Disaster plan with the students and laid emphasis on the fact that all the processes are need to be followed to perfection(an administrator’s primary role) so that the situation may not get  chaotic.

Management Student: LEAD Activity - War of Words



As a part of LEAD module INLEAD conducted an activity for its April 2012 Batch – War of Words. As the name sounds it was a debate competition, where students from all the programs of April 2012 batch had participated. They were all pumped up to do well and were ready with their armory (of Strong Points and facts & Figures). Student’s excitement levels were really soaring; we were glad that we had conducted just WAR OF WORDS and not the WAR OF ARROWS.

The activity was meticulously planned by our LEAD Faculty Ms. Priya Mehta. Students were given topics related to their specific industry domain. Groups were made to talk on For the Motion and Against the Motion. All the students had come up with some strong points and all the points were backed up by concrete facts and figures. Once the speech was over then the 2nd hurdle for them was to face some hard-hitting questions from the rebuttal panel and as well as from the audience. All in all the activity was lot of fun and overall students had made it quite successful.

It was a closely fought competition and all the students had performed exceptionally well but in the end judges had to decide 1 winner. Students were majorly tested on Language proficiency, presence of mind, communication skills, Question Handling and Audience Connect.

Career Counseling: Industry Visit - 10th Infra Education Fair


INLEAD conducted an industry visit to 10th Infra Educa Fair held at Pragati Maidan for its Marketing Students on June 23, 2012. Students were accompanied by one of the marketing faculties at INLEAD, Mr. Mohammed Amir. The sole purpose of industry visit is to give the students the hands on experience or the exposure about the industry in which they aspire, to turn out to be the future leaders. It gives a complete perspective to them about the corporate dynamics of the entire industry. In simple terms they are exposed to the real world, which will ultimately help them to come out as better professionals.
Through the education fair the students were exposed to the marketing practices adopted by the educational institutes with reference to courses like B. Tech, MBA, PGDM, Hotel Management, Nursing etc. They also observed the utilization of marketing tools like ambience, counseling skills, stall set-up, literature of various institutes and did a comparative analysis of it. They also analyzed the footfall of the students with respect to the courses being marketed like: B.Tech, PGDM, MBA, BSc Nursing, Hotel Management etc.    

Event Management: Industry Visit - Kingdom of Dreams (June 2012 EMPR Batch)


The Training and Placement Cell of INLEAD organised an industrial visit to Kingdom of Dreams on June 28th, 2012 for EMPR students of June’12 batch. The students were accompanied by the one of the faculty at INLEAD, Mr. Sandeep Bhandari. The enticing and exquisite Kingdom of Dreams, in the heart of the “Millennium city” brings to life a vivid picture of India's art, culture, heritage, craft, cuisine and live art...all with the technological wizardry of today.On behalf of Kingdom of Dreams, a warm welcome was accorded by Mr. Rishabh Kumar, Floor Manager and Mr. Raj Kumar, Assistant Manager, Human Resource.

It was the first industry visit for the batch ever since the commencement of the session from 16th June to give us a hands on experience as to what goes behind the working of one of the biggest entertainment extravaganza. The students were briefed about the sprawling setup at Kingdom of Dreams which included both Nautanki Mahal and Culture Gully. An elaborate culture, arts, craft and food boulevard, from visiting the backwaters of Kerala, savoring the taste buds in the royal nawab style in Lucknow, the statuesque beaches in Goa, an insight of the royal splendor of a Rajasthani Palace, the Mumbai local that rules the lives of major chunk of Mumbai, the live kitchens…..there’s so much you can look forward to at Culture Gully. In the Nautanki Mahal, the magic of Indian Cinema comes alive in a stunning, electrifying on-stage spectacle. It combines creativity and cutting edge technology to create an Entertainment Extravaganza which explodes our senses. The students had a glimpse of Jhumroo, an out and out musical comedy. Packed with 19 Bollywood retro songs, Jhumroo is a celebration of the spirit of Kishore Kumar, a legend who continues to charm the young and old alike. A brief visit to IIFA buzz cafĂ©, a glamourous themed bollywood VIP lounge, added to the excitement.
The visit came to end with a lively interaction with Mr. Saurabh Kaushik, General Manager, Human Resource. He shared his experience at Kingdom of dreams and followed by a rapid fire round with students, asking questions as to what the students had learnt from the visit to Kingdom of Dreams. The students were also rewarded with gifts for the correct answers. The students had a great experience of learning at the hub of innovative and creative thinking.

Management Student: Workshop on Disaster Management - Dr. Shweta Sharma


Indian Institute of Learning and Advanced Development (INLEAD) in association with Safety Circle organized a First Aid and Life Support workshop for CorporateAdministration and Facility Management & Hospitality Operation Management students on 25th June 2012 at INLEAD Campus in Gurgaon. Workshop was conducted by Dr. Shweta Sharma, a certified instructor from National Safety Council, USA. Dr. Shweta Sharma had trained almost 15,000 people as of now and she had given workshops in some of the well-known organizations like Tata, Mitsibushi Motors, Vodafone, Ericsson, BPCL, HPCL, GAIL and Bina Refinery. Her area of expertise includes Emergency Response and Care, First Aid, Stress Management, Ergonomics and Postures.

The major purpose for such workshops is to prepare the students in case they encounter any natural or industry disaster like fire, flood, chemical spills, stampede or accidents. Workshop basically intends to familiarize the students with meaning, factors, significance, causes and effects of disasters.Workshop was largely about practical situations wherein topics like emergency action plan, basic life support, chocking, shock, sudden illness, bleeding and wound care, burns, serious injuries, poisoning, muscle injury, moving & rescuing the victim and stature drill was covered. It specifically highlights the essentials of disaster preparedness.
